Business growth and choosing the right ERP system

A businesswoman reviewing financial spreadsheets with charts and graphs in an office setting.
A growing company will sooner or later face the same challenge: scattered spreadsheets, several disconnected tools, and increasingly limited visibility into finance, inventory, and sales. Scaling the business without losing operational control and consistency requires a system that grows with the company rather than holding it back.
SAP GROW was designed for companies at this stage of development — businesses looking to implement their first fully integrated ERP system without months of analysis and without the risks typically associated with a greenfield implementation.

SAP GROW

SAP GROW is an SAP implementation offering designed for companies that have not previously used an ERP system or want to replace a fragmented application landscape with one consistent cloud-based solution. It combines SAP S/4HANA Cloud licensing, an implementation methodology based on predefined business scenarios, migration tools, training, and access to SAP resources and communities within a single offering.
A key feature of SAP GROW is access to two deployment options: SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud and SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud, allowing you to choose the model that best fits your company’s size, industry, and pace of growth.

How does SAP GROW differ from RISE with SAP?

SAP GROW is aimed at new SAP customers, particularly companies building their ERP environment from the ground up. RISE with SAP, on the other hand, is designed for companies already using SAP, most commonly SAP ECC, that want to move their existing environment to the cloud while retaining their established processes and data.

This implementation approach works particularly well when a fast and predictable go-live is a priority and the company is ready to base its processes on proven standards. It is particularly suitable for:

  • companies that have never used SAP before and want to adopt cloud solutions without investing in their own infrastructure,
  • fast-growing companies that need a system capable of scaling with their organizational structure and number of users,
  • companies looking to replace disconnected tools, spreadsheets, local databases, and separate accounting and warehouse systems with one integrated ERP solution,
  • organizations for which predictable costs and a short implementation timeline are key priorities.
  • FAST IMPLEMENTATION – predefined industry and business scenarios make it possible to launch core processes within just a few weeks.
  • NO INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT – infrastructure, maintenance, and system updates are handled by SAP.
  • SCALABLE GROWTH – the system grows with your business without requiring major redesigns in the years ahead.
  • MODERN TECHNOLOGY – SAP HANA database, SAP Fiori user experience, and built-in automation and analytics capabilities available from day one.
  • PREDICTABLE SUBSCRIPTION MODEL – transparent licensing and maintenance costs from the outset, without the cost uncertainty often associated with large implementation projects.
  • CHOICE OF TWO CLOUD OPTIONS – Public Cloud and Private Cloud, tailored to different requirements for customization, flexibility, and control.

SAP S/4HANA

Public Cloud

This is an out-of-the-box solution based on standardized, preconfigured business processes, offering the shortest implementation time and the lowest barrier to entry. The system runs as SaaS on SAP’s shared infrastructure, with automatic updates and no access to the source code.
Extensions are built exclusively on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), outside the system core, helping keep the core clean and upgrade-friendly.

Różnice:

INFRASTRUCTURE

shared, fully managed by SAP

CUSTOMIZATION

limited to extensions built on SAP BTP

IMPLEMENTATION

shortest cycle, typically ranging from a few to several weeks

TYPICAL SCENARIO

new SAP customer, standardized processes

Private Cloud

This is a dedicated, isolated environment hosted by a hyperscaler such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud as part of RISE with SAP, or on the customer’s own infrastructure in an on-premise deployment.
Your company retains full access to the code and the ability to perform extensive customizations, while also controlling the upgrade schedule instead of following the mandatory quarterly release cycle of Public Cloud.

Różnice:

INFRASTRUCTURE

dedicated environment hosted by a hyperscaler or deployed on-premise

CUSTOMIZATION

full customization with access to the code and custom Z* developments

UPDATES

controlled by your company

TYPICAL SCENARIO

new SAP customer with extensive customization requirements or a company operating under specific regulatory requirements such as GMP or GDP

How to choose the right option?

Companies with relatively simple, standardized processes and limited customization requirements typically choose Public Cloud. This enables a faster implementation and a lower cost of entry. Organizations with extensive custom solutions, shop-floor integrations such as MES or SCADA, or those operating in regulated environments, for example under GMP in pharmaceuticals or GDP in distribution, usually require the greater level of control offered by Private Cloud.

To support this decision, SAP provides tools such as the Digital Discovery Assessment and the Total Cost of Ownership Calculator. At INMAR, however, we always begin with our own independent assessment. This allows us to recommend the solution that best fits your company’s specific requirements.

SAP GROW – FAQ

SAP GROW is an SAP implementation offering for companies adopting a cloud ERP system for the first time. It includes an SAP S/4HANA Cloud license (Public or Private), predefined business scenarios, as well as tools and support designed to accelerate implementation.

SAP GROW is designed for new SAP customers implementing the system for the first time. RISE with SAP is intended for companies already using SAP that want to migrate their existing environment to the cloud.

There are two options: SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, designed for the rapid implementation of standardized processes, and SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud, which provides greater control over configuration and customization.

With Public Cloud, core business processes can be up and running within just a few weeks. The actual timeline depends on the project scope and the complexity of the company’s processes. A Private Cloud implementation, however, usually takes longer.

Public Cloud is a good fit for companies ready to adopt standardized processes and looking for a fast implementation without extensive customization. Private Cloud is better suited to organizations that require deeper customization, shop-floor integrations, or compliance with specific regulatory requirements.

We support you throughout the entire implementation process — from the initial assessment and Fit-to-Standard workshops, through system configuration and data migration, to training and post-go-live support. We begin by conducting an in-depth analysis of your requirements to ensure that the solution selected is the best fit for your business.
