The planning system makes suggestions, but planners still make adjustments manually. Do you know why?

The problem arises several years later. New products, semi-finished products, and raw materials are added using existing indexes from years ago. No one remembers “where did this rounding to 1000 come from?” Someone has to manually correct it. And so on, every day. Instead of making appropriate corrections in the system, every order is reviewed. The purchasing and production departments no longer trust the numbers the system provides.
In this case, the loss of trust in the system isn’t a technical issue. It stems solely from the fact that the master data no longer reflects operational reality.
The data creation and updating process is one of the most underestimated processes, crucial for maintaining the SAP system in good health. Creating it doesn’t require a major project at all. However, it does require regular reflection: does the data contained in the system still make sense?
